The Yachtmaster Ocean is aimed at candidates who have already obtained the title of Yachtmaster Offshore which is the extension to unlimited navigation from the coast. The Ocean course is a simple 5-day theoretical course, with qualified Ocean instructors and involves learning the use of the sextant, ocean meteorology, charting with great circle and rhumb lines. A very entertaining course, which ends with taking the measurements at sea, with the sextant, for those who have not already taken the measurements and an oral exam a few days after taking the measurements at sea. The RYA Yachtmaster Offshore certificate is required for access to the YM Ocean exam.
